About Us

Welcome to B-Cubed Bakery! I’m Ben, a former software engineer turned baker (and back and forth a couple of times).

I’ve always loved bread but began to think in 2017 that it was something I might enjoy doing professionally as well. Between jobs I took a two year sabbatical, first enrolling at the Great Lakes Culinary Institute in Traverse City Michigan. During my time in school I worked at a small brick oven bakery staffing the pastry half of the operation.

After school I spent a year working the night bread shift at Zingerman’s Bakehouse; making great friends and learning a huge amount around baking at higher volumes while still creating real bread. I also gained critical practice, shaping and baking tens of thousands of loaves, as well as a truly terrifying number of bagels.

The latest step of my journey has found me starting B-Cubed Bakery. A cottage business selling at the Depot Town Farmers Market in Ypsilanti Michigan for the 2022 season. In 2023 we’re taking the next step, expanding to additional farmers markets (Westland on Thursdays) while attempting to grow B-Cubed in full fledged bakery. At B-Cubed Bakery we work to bring bread and other baked goods made with care directly to those who will enjoy it. We use traditional methods, and local ingredients whenever possible.
